Cancers are caused by all sorts of things like radiation, heavy metals, even viruses.
For instance, it was discovered that cervical cancer was being caused by the papillomavirus (HPV) so they developed the Gardasil 9 vaccine which protects against the virus and prevents cervical cancer.
And doing things like breathing smoke, soot and all the other contaminates from smoking cigarettes dramatically increases the risk of lung cancer. I mean, that's an easy one to prevent. Don't smoke.
Skin cancer. We know that long exposure to the the sun will dramatically increase your chances of getting skin cancer. Again, we know what causes it, the sun. We know how to prevent it. Sunscreen and cover up.
