I had already enjoyed two careers already before I got serious about my photography. I think that helped me a lot. I'm not a great businessman, but I am very good at taking care of my clients and ultimately that's what had kept me in business all these years.
There's also a danger in losing the love of a creative process once it becomes your income too. Everything is compromise.
Would I be a better photographer perhaps if I wasn't so busy trying to pay rent? Dunno.
