Scotland can’t protect its Tartan
……only England can….
The Prickly Thistle weaving mill in Evanton, Easter Ross, has hit a snag in trying to protect Highland-woven tartan. Mill owner Clare Campbell submitted a petition to the Holyrood parliament only to find that her proposal for a Highland Tartan Act is not within the competence of the Holyrood government. She was told that ‘intellectual property and geographic indicator regulations are a reserved issue, meaning it lies with Westminster.
