there was a fake authenticator app last February that used App Store search ads to display different images based on whether you were looking for Google/Microsoft/etc. Authenticator. There was a fake LastPass app recently. IDK anything about the new iOS notarization but the notarization process on macOS allows Apple to revoke an app even after it has been installed on someone's machine. (Of course you can always resign an app to run locally and you are only losing stuff like push notifications that are tied to a developer account)
Don't they require a $1M letter of credit for people who want to operate an app store?
