Took my “new” machine to sewing today. One of the older ladies looked at the shuttle / bobbin for approximately ten seconds before threading it properly, then did it again but slower, so I could watch.

I took over and got it first try, then undid it to check it wasn’t a fluke and was unable to do it.

The lady tried again and couldn’t get it. A crowd began to form. No one could get it to work.

The oldest lady tottered over. Still no joy. Much head scratching, then she got out a needle and poked it.
