I just realized, _why_ I am so fed up with xkcd 2347 being the standard go-to metaphor for anything related to dependencies, especially when F/LOSS contributions are concerned.
It's because it makes it easy for decision makers to come to the conclusion that there are just a few of those projects that hold together half of modern computing. That they can be easily identified before the fact. That we can prevent another xz before it happens.
