it is light, and cheap to make, but it loses structural integrity after about 10 years, it's not a durable material

IMO, very few things really benefit from it that actually matter

give me a steel tube bicycle any day, if i am gonna ride my bike i don't want to be buying a new one every 10 years if it works great, just replace what wears out

spoked wheels are more finicky, i will grant you that, but they are actually lighter and more aerodynamic than alloy wheels

they make good bodies for laptops and mobile phones, but i don't like either category of device, i prefer to not carry a computer around, that's too much logic and sensors for my taste, and the keyboards are not comfortable to use, in either case

you don't eat off aluminium plates, cook with aluminium pots, or use aluminium utensils, there's almost nothing in the kitchen that needs aluminium

about teh only thing i approve of it being used for is heatsinks, it's very good for this, it's like cheap silver in this respect, very thermo-conductive

but i am hard pressed to come up with even one more compelling thing that actually is useful that you can do with aluminium

i'm very tired of these aluminium tube based brooms and mop handles, like, what the fuck, what was wrong with wood?

it just doesn't last, that rules it out for me. and then on top of that, the whole edifice of the abomination of plastic packaging for food that uses aluminium

ok, there's one place i am not against it, it's good, aluminium foil, is a good piece of kitchen equipment, it's also not terrible for heat reflecting purposes in addition to heat conduction

it just should not be used for anything structural that should be able to last more than a decade, because it won't, and when it fails, it's fatal, i would NOT want to be involved in a bicycle accident with a 10 year old frame having a catastrophic failure, and cars?

really, do we want to force the replacement of parts at a 8 year cycle because aluminium being used in a strain bearing component? hell no, it should never be used for strain, it should not be coupled with plastic, which we just discussed, for food

and it should not be used for cooking, at all, copper is a more durable heat conductive material
