One of my many take-aways from last night's Clown Shitshow, other than the GOP is a bunch of clowns (and if you'd like to put a colorful adjective in front of clowns when you read that last sentence, please do), is that Haley and DeSantis, the two that are being held up as the winners of the debate, were a bit vague as to a 15-week ban on abortion.
Haley said she would support it, but said that candidates should be honest with the public (meaning GOP voters) that a federal ban would require 60 votes in the Senate. I'd summarize her approach as saying, "Sure, I support a ban, but we're not going to get it, and we could lose voters in the meantime by putting a federal ban front and center in 2024."
DeSantis was even more vague. "I'm pro-life, and we did something more extreme in Florida, but we need to look at referenda as there are voters that are likely to support us, and we are losing."
I think his position is quite dangerous.
