If one motor dies, as a general rule, you can keep driving on the other, so it's actually an increase in reliability.

They're generally very reliable parts anyway. 8-year warranties are typical.

Heh, why am I not surprised you'd choose wood heating? :)

One thing I've often thought about is why no automakers offer radiant heating. Convection, yes. Conduction (seats), yes. But not radiative. It's efficient (aimed at the user), and extremely comfortable. Maybe just too much risk?
