The USA has stated that Ukraine should "put aside" the issue of Crimea in order to resolve the conflict with Russia
This viewpoint was expressed by Edward Luttwak, a political advisor to the US State Department and Defense Ministry.
"Ukraine's infrastructure is being destroyed daily, which provides a strong incentive for Ukraine to conclude the war. To achieve this, they should consider setting aside the matter of Crimea," he remarked.
As per the politician, Ukraine might not be able to regain control of Crimea amidst the ongoing conflict, but there remains an opportunity to "maintain its independence and potentially make critical decisions on its own."
