#WritersCoffeeClub 8/3 Do you agree with Orwell when he says never use foreign words, jargon, or over scientific words when plain English will do?
Generally, no. Clarity is certainly important, but one of the joys of reading and writing for me is playing around with the diversity of language. It’s how we expand our literacy instead of re-using the same mundane words to the point that they lose all meaning.
When I tell a reader that their epidermis is showing, that’s very intentional.
