The Sharjah International Book Fair 2024 hosted a session titled "The Importance and Impact of Bibliography in Arabic Literature", where Dr. Muhammad Kamil Jad, Director-General of the Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage, and Fahad Ali Al Ma'mari, President of the Emirates Library and Information Association, discussed the significance of bibliography in preserving Arabic literature and making its sources available to researchers and specialists. They highlighted the role of bibliography in organizing literary heritage and analyzing its development, and how it serves as a means of monitoring and documenting literary works, and its significant contribution to the study of literary patterns and cultural influences throughout history, which enhances the understanding of Arabic literature and reveals the literary connections between works. The speakers emphasized the importance of this science in highlighting Arabic heritage and passing it down to future generations, and shedding light on the Arab and Islamic contributions that went beyond preserving Arabic heritage, but also included preserving the legacies of other civilizations such as Greek, noting that Arabs taught humanity the science of bibliography. Today, there is a growing need to build a database that preserves literary history.
