We want to implement this feature, but this will require changes to the ActivityPub protocol to, in part, allow the feature you are asking for and give authors a way to control who can quote their posts. This is currently the major blocker for the feature.
And the proposal that was submitted was done in November 2022 and by December 2023, you said it was finalized. After that, I can't find anything where mastodon members officially acknowledge quote posts outside of them linking back to their roadmap.
Sorry, you didn't do anything wrong here. I am just trying to piece together why this is such a thing™️ for mastodon specifically. I hope they discuss this in public more in the future.Thank you for your links and your work on ActivityPub! 🙏
