my C++ advice is don't ever assume anyone on the internet knows what the hell they're talking about, especially if they speak with confidence. if you actually want to know how something works, look it up in the draft standard. seriously. I know it reads like vogon poetry. look it up on cppreference.com if you want a more straightforward explanation but if you really care about correctness you should still refer back to the standard afterwards.
