I actually don't mind this sense that the walls are closing in because I know how to climb a ladder. I have to assume that the people building these walls don't or they wouldn't waste their time building something that can only trap the witless. It sounds to me like they're building their own Prison, which will make it nicer for the rest of us out here eventually.
