Prof. Shalhoub-Kevorkian received a public letter from the President and Rector at the end of October 2023 asking her to resign after she helped to draft and share a petition signed by over 100 academics requesting a ceasefire and the risk of genocide in Gaza. Shalhoub-Kevorkian has been a Professor at Hebrew University for 30 years, is a senior and well-known scholar, so they could not fire her without cause. Instead, President Asher Cohen and Rector Tamir Sheafer released a public letter which resulted in threats against her and her family. 3/13
