It used to be the only resistance I would hear about would be perceived safety(no actual safety difference) but there's a new house decoration/art fad for lots of light that is gaining traction. A couple of my neighbors put a bunch of high powered LEDs in their driveways and sidewalks pointed directly up :( it both destroys night vision and is maximally light polluting. They're also the ones with giant trucks in the city.
