I've suspected for a short while that psychedelics are primarily frequency modulators.

"Psilocybin has been shown to modulate neural activity and frequency oscillations in the brain... [] ...This effect is characterised by a decrease in power in low-frequency bands, such as delta, theta, and alpha, and a trending increase in gamma oscillatory power."

"In terms of EEG, psychedelics have been found to increase broadband signal entropy and show band-specific changes in spectral power"

With mushrooms, I suspect (can't find any supporting literature or evidence that it has been examined) that different strains will have a different range of frequency bands they induce for different experiences, and the higher the dose, the more in tune with that band of frequencies you feel.

I think these experiences aren't a shortcut to anything, but it can offer different perspectives that help us gain understanding faster.
