A recent conversation here on the fediverse discussed how pleasant it was to just share things of interest and engage in conversations that caught your fancy without worrying about whether something goes "viral".
On the other hand, about every other time I reply to something on :birdsite:, it's now prompting "do you want more people to see this? get a paid account and we'll s̶h̶o̶v̶e̶ i̶t̶ d̶o̶w̶n̶ o̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ p̶e̶o̶p̶l̶e̶'̶s̶ t̶h̶r̶o̶a̶t̶s̶ promote your content!"
The contrast was pretty striking. I'm here to have fun and find "there" less and less fun (mostly just keeping the account for a couple that haven't moved to the fediverse).
