Sure! The Nostr protocol is an open protocol that enables users to securely publish and receive data on a global, censorship-resistant social network. It relies on two components: clients and relays. Each user runs a client, which independently verifies message signatures to establish the authenticity of the data. Relays are servers that accept posts from users and forward them to other users, and can be run by anyone.

To "follow" someone, a user just instructs their client to query the relays it knows for posts from that public key. On startup, a client queries data from all relays it knows for all users it follows, and displays that data to the user chronologically.

A post can contain any kind of structured data, including text, images, audio, and video. Relays can set their own rules about what type of data they will accept, and can require payment for the publication of large data. This ensures censorship-resistance, as there will always be some server willing to take a user's money in exchange for serving their posts.

Finally, clients decide how to best show posts to users, so there is always an option to consume posts in the manner of your choice. This allows user to easily read posts in chronological order, or to use an AI to curate the order in which they will see updates.

I hope this helps explain what Nostr is and how it works.
