The state of São Paulo was the only one to have over 1 million taxpayers who received the refund in the first batch paid by the Federal Revenue Service last Friday (30). The state has the largest number of taxpayers who have received the money, but the lowest percentage among those who were eligible. The tax authority returned the amount to 1,705,528 people in the state, but this number corresponds to 32.5% of those who are entitled to the refund in São Paulo. The second state with the highest percentage of pending refund is Paraná, where 32.8% of those who are eligible for the refund entered the first batch. Across the country, the payment by Pix was requested by almost seven out of every ten taxpayers who will receive the refund. According to the Revenue Service, 69.4% of those who will receive the refund chose this option. Meanwhile, 30.6% opted for a bank deposit. No state has yet had half of its taxpayers with the right to the refund in the first payment. Piauí is the leader in this regard, with 47.4%, followed by Acre (45.7%) and Ceará (45.4%). The first batch was paid to 6,198,538 people, who received R$ 10.8 billion. The batch also included taxpayers who fell into the fine mesh in previous years and received R$ 1.96 billion. The selection only included people with legal priority (seniors over 60 years old, people with disabilities and serious illnesses, and taxpayers who have teaching as their main source of income) and those who used the pre-filled declaration and also chose to receive via Pix. There will be four more batches, between June and September, with payment on the last business day of each month. The next one is expected to be released by around June 23 and will be deposited on June 30.
