I remember as a kid my mom having to put food back because she didn’t have enough $$. I remember my mom’s shame and embarrassment. I also remember many times not having enough money to buy the food I wanted/needed. Having to buy cheap food instead of good food.
I told the cashier, “Just put her stuff on my bill.” It’s not like it was a LOT of food - maybe $50 worth. Young lady came back. Said she didn’t have enough $$ and she would have to put some stuff back. Cashier told her what I had done.
