The primary role of government is to provide protection against violence.
When the logic of violence changes, society changes.
We now have (and are building) tools that protect us from violence with pseudonymous and anonymous protocols.
This means we are becoming more sovereign and less reliant on third party protection. As (tax payers) 'customers' of the state, it makes me wonder what we are paying for at all as these protocols become more apparent.
