Nostr doesn't solve censorship but it does empower users to make censorship a non-issue.
The identity and communities are distributed and owned by the user.
The data is distributed and owned by the users. Relays will be easily replaced should they fall under the control of an adversarial agent of censorship.
Given this, censorship short of a whole internet shutdown is doomed. The cost of migration to clients/relays that aren't censoring is so small it is reasonable to ask your community to move with you. They don't have to leave the relays that are censoring, even, just add new ones along with them.
