I remember telling my mechanic 'you didn't originally come up with the idea of how to do an oil change, so I don't have to pay you for actually doing the oil change'...
That to say, do people who do things like voice 'audio books' not get paid?
So even if it wasn't 'original material' the person who puts it together and makes the video should get paid.
Worst part is 'ticktock' is not saying 'it can't be monetized', they're saying 'because you made a video that we decided is unoriginal content WE, who did even less, get to keep the money you earned'.
Pretty shitty deal.
