It is an obvious mistake to think about taxes as of “yours”. Tax is an unconditional payment and government owes you nothing after money is collected. It’s now government’s. At least this is the case in Ukraine and Russia. But I believe it’s more less the same in the US.
Well of course things are different for you if you are connected to or work for government.
