Boy this is a bad idea (many of his fans agree).
And it already exists: China has had a Real Name Policy for about a decade now. They also vet which news sources you're allowed to cite from.
What worries me is how otherwise (fairly) reasonable people come up with solutions that take power away from corporate megalomaniacs, amplify that power tenfold and then hand it straight to government.
(and yes he is openly socialist, which may explain his inclination, though not all socialists are pro government - ask Ben de Waal to join Nostr and explain how that's supposed to work?...)
I partly blame Musk for this, in driving people nuts and being completely unreasonable he's triggering all sorts of dangerous counter reactions.
But fundamentally we can't have a solution that relies on selectively giving "good" governments power and keeping that power out of the hands of "bad" governments. Western democracies are just going to have to put with the inconvenience that comes with limited power.
That applies to both money and communication systems. Onwards!
