I think it is also true that "artists for artists/industry" platforms can also serve a decent purpose for lots of people. I have been on here and on Cara for over a year and enjoy both, and they both serve a different purpose to me. Opening up Cara would be great to defend against future enshitification, but just turning it into PixelFed rather than an "artists platform" would remove a lot of what I also enjoy about it.
