This makes me wonder why is it that laptops, smartphones and pretty much everything else with a Li-Ion battery, has such bad battery-longevity? Users practically expect the battery to just about halve in capacity after 5 years and hardly question it.
My guess is the fact that the vast majority of customers wouldn't buy an EV without this problem solved (since gasoline cars are still a good enough alternative), and therefore it pushed EV makers to design for longevity.
