I see GNI, GNP & GDP as simply measures of currency transactions. Therefore of great interest to banks and investors. So I see it's inclusion in HDI as almost indicating the authors gave up trying to move away from a sensible measure.
Fascinating to place the units to it. It's dimensions are in the cube root of (time squared $/person) this hardly has an easily understood unit. That it is set on arbitrary norms means it is likely to be revisited regularly. All told IMHO useless...😒
