I think one drawback of some of these features taking a long time to implement is *eventually* someone else is going to implement them in a significantly worse way.
I'm sure we're only a few months away from Threads sucking up fediverse posts into their algorithm and indexing posts for search for example, and there's really not much officially in place in AP for a consensual way to do that because the community has pushed away from the idea of any algorithms for the longest time, so Meta will probably just do what they do and avoid the consent question altogether. And I can't help but wonder if that would be true if earlier attempts at providing fediverse-wide search hadn't been immediately denounced and subsequently abandoned.
I guess my point is a lot of these things are going to happen regardless as the fediverse expands and this early on would be the time to settle some of these questions in some sort of official manner.
