I would definitely give it another go 😉 based not only on my reply above but the 'sluggishness' you described I only ever had on a Pixel 3 due to it's eMMC combined with GrapheneOS secure exec app spawning model.
However the only is the Pixel 3 no longer supported but we now have toggles for everything allowing the user to choose whether to maintain full security or disable it, system wide or in some cases on a per app basis in regards our exploit protection compatibility mode toggle too.
The power and choice is yours.
