In the fiat world, content curation is handled by whichever platform you’re on. On Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg is the final arbiter of every category of content available on the platform. He may not make the selections personally, but the buck always stops with him.

Is there a box that says I select Zuck to be the final arbitor of every piece of content, no matter the category? Of course not. Why not? Because Facebook has no economic incentive to provide users with decentralized solutions to content curation. On Facebook, no other options exist.

Some will say that decentralized content curation is technologically impossible. But technology has never been the problem. It’s the economic incentives that are the problem.

Nostr provides the economic environment that we need to build the tools that don’t yet exist. Not bluesky, not anything else. Nostr. It’s not perfect, but it’s enough for now.

I think we can all feel it: Nostr is the crucible in which the technology of decentralized content curation will be forged.
