Video game speedrunning has been rocked by allegations of cheating, with a hacker-turned-investigator claiming to have uncovered an impossible record. The controversy surrounds Diablo speedrunner Maselewski's alleged 2-minute-and-45-second record, which has been under scrutiny for years. Researchers Cecil and Koziel developed tool-assisted speedruns to test the feasibility of the record, concluding that it was impossible. As a result, Maselewski's record was removed from the Twin Galaxies records keeper and Guinness stripped his world record.
