Question to pixel artists: how do you manage to come with a pixel art version of something realistic? What is your process?
Example: I tried to make a VW Kombi in #pixelart but it always ends up being either too detailed or too big (in dimensions).
I have a lot of trouble with abstractions in general, so even low poly models are hard for me to make, and I end up making semi-realistic 3D models. I use references as copies instead of inspirations, due to failing to "abstract them away".
