I don't entirely agree. There's something to Carl Jung's notion of religion as an axiom even if he was never able to ground them scientifically.
People who get into that stuff (myself included) tend to put too much weight on it though. It's just a language, knowing the language will give you some insights but it won't actually improve your life all that much unless you extract actionable values.
