This sort of thing is great for live setups, but I feel like its use outside of scenarios like that is pretty limited. Even on my Android phone which these days uses an image instead of a partition for security reasons can still be a bit of a pain. I use root access and writing things basically requires something that mounts an overlay during boot time (which of course means no go on locked bootloaders and much more compromised security on loading)
I'd rather move away from immutable
