Security guarantees would be functionally equivalent to NATO membership. That's a big part of what led to this pointless war in the first place. That and the AFU shelling innocent civilians and Azov extremists commiting atrocious terrorism for nearly a decade.

Also, the US reneged on critical promises regarding the expansion of NATO on Russia's borders, meddled in Ukraine's politics, and placed offensive weaponry in range of the RF's major population centers.

I wish the "SMO" was never executed, but it wasn't an unprovoked move. The RF has inflicted massive destruction, but has also shown a measure of restraint. Kiev would be rubble, like many of Ukraine's eastern towns and cities, if it weren't for the "grace" of the RF.

Ukraine needs to take the L and stop pointlesslessly throwing young men and materiel into a hopeless meatgrinder.

They've lost the war, unequivocally. They're in no position to make unreasonable demands. Or, as Trump put it: "they don't hold any cards."

Warhawks are never at risk of conscription. If they were, they wouldn't be so gung ho about continuing this war, and not as obstinant regarding the terms of its conclusion.
