When discussing health care, the UK often looks to the US or sometimes to Europe for comparison (and different models for managing health provision).
Most health systems offer some hybrid of private & public health provision, and are (due to demographic changes, in some sort of crisis right now), so for a change here is a long read from the BBC website on the crisis in Australian health care.
