You are right, but think about e.g. the artists too (and the bestseller clauses in the law).
Anyway if you want to get more money as a scientist, inventor (or innovator :-)), you can get a share from the profit directly, or as a royalty (even company share as a part of salary). It depends of the contract. Btw: any invention has to be protected by patent (except principles)
Try to negotiate about the contract this way if you have any chance to solve some problem, invemt sometgimg under the contract.
