Four false and misleading claims made by Donald Trump at his Republican acceptance speech
==========
Former President Trump made several false and misleading claims during his Republican acceptance speech. He falsely claimed that there has been a spike in violent crime due to immigration, but FBI statistics show that violent crime is actually on the decline. Trump also inaccurately stated that the U.S. had the greatest economy in history, when in fact the pandemic triggered a massive recession and economic growth under Trump was lower than during Bill Clinton's presidency. Another false claim was that the U.S. left behind $85 billion worth of military equipment in Afghanistan, but reports show that the actual amount spent on equipment and transportation was much lower. Lastly, Trump's claim that President Biden has not addressed the issue of Americans held hostage by Hamas is untrue, as Biden has spoken about the hostages multiple times and expressed his commitment to bringing them home.
