After I figured out I'm trans, I came out pretty much as soon as I could. I had to start living as myself immediately. I'd spent far too many years in the dark. This was, and continues to be, joyous and freeing and literally invigorating.
What followed was that every relationship in my life dissipated, exploded, or had to be cut off. The loss of friends and family came with the loss of any sense of a safety net. It left me feeling like I'm dangling over a chasm.
