I'm pretty sure Armbian isn't running a vanilla kernel, the machine I'm typing this on has a package installed called linux-image-current-rockchip64, whose description is "Armbian Linux current kernel image 6.12.17-current-rockchip64"

I suppose it's possible that a vanilla kernel is used for some hardware and not others, but I have my doubts about that. you'd think Armbian would have various config options they'd want to keep largely consistent across devices where it makes sense to do so.
