I dont know about the chicken thing. America is usually a net food exporter.
But yeah complicated things have multiple country assemblies.
Generally food, fuel, medicine, and weapons should always be produced natively.
Otherwise you are hardly even a country.
Everything else can be tariffed and its not bad big deal
