I was pretty firmly in the it's a ridiculous decision camp until seeing some discussion of the topic here

The two key and very valid objections to include the questions that jump out at me are

* Data security, will it put people at risk?

* What if a member of the household isn't out yet?

I'm sure there are others

It's definitely not as straightforward as I thought at first

Mind you the government is running the "it's divisive" line and while it is I don't think that's a great reason not to go ahead with the change especially as it's in their platform
