You got stuck at the beginning of the movie where the journalists self-describe themselves as being truth seekers against the censorship of the press by the government. But the rest unravel pretty quickly against them and expose their hypocrisy.
The film portrays senseless journalists that hardly care about what they are witnessing (come on, take a picture of the two hanging men ! oh what a beautiful shot of someone dying !) and mostly care about "the shot" or "the interview", exploiting the pain of the world in a very self-centric way to raise themselves to fame, competing against one another (the competitive at the beginning, the talks they have with other teams at Washington, etc).
Never in the movie they care about peace or even the truth, instead they're sad because they're afraid to not make it in time to have a "legendary last interview" before the death of the President.
Did not sound pro-journalist at all to me, quite the opposite, displaying the hypocrisy of reporting the war under a author name.
Pretty much everyone reveals itself to be an asshole at the end, and that's a good summary of any war...
