"content": "Suzette Baker, from unincorporated Kingsland in Texas, is officially a “Champion of Writers.” She is the first recipient of the Authors Guild’s new award, which recognizes librarians fighting book bans. In 2022 she was fired from her job as a Llano County librarian after resisting orders to ban books. In response, library patrons sued the county to have books restored to shelves, and won. nostr:npub1xf8m9rch7tvjjv3wlj9x6q95rnhlavh3e8fjxga6lx5prnqgc77q2k0uw6 spoke to Baker about books, censorship, and the support she’s had from fellow librarians.\n\nhttps://www.texasobserver.org/library-books-censorship-smalltown-texas/\n\n#Books nostr:npub1ny7qwqnkw6pg4m0uegzrdzwrckapzq7v7zku9p28hgv5aflvg8fq7zuv57 #Libraries #Librarians #BookBans #Newstodon #NewstodonFriday #FollowFriday\n\nIf you’re on Flipboard, you can now follow Texas Observer over there: \n\nhttps://flipboard.com/@texasobserver.",
