well, I have a limited amount of time to spend on things, and chasing a maintainer who doesn't really care about fixing bugs because they're paid by Xilinx to do a new shiny or something only has so much return
if having software packaged in Debian means the software is shipped broken, I'd much rather not have it in Debian, as a Debian user myself
