N being any old basis for the set. Some integer. Members of the set are any n 0≤n<N the truth table on contains something like N^N mappings I can't remember the exact formula (my wife is using my reMarkable 2 for a recipe to bake a cake, not sure why she doesn't put it on hers)
So a base space of N^2 is just an arbitrary selection of a new space bigger than N. You could look at N+1 or N*2 and that may make more sense.
