Developing my tiny open world horror game I found this workflow very useful:

- Develop the setting, writing it down as text (LibreOffice Write)
- Make a list of Points Of Interest in a spreadsheet (LibreOffice Calc)
- Distribute the points in the map (Inkscape)

I've calculated from "A Short Hike" that te POI show be spaced every 7 seconds of exploration.
